260) THE DIRTY DOZEN
(1967 dir. Robert Aldrich) 2nd Viewing: August 28 2010

Got some awesome blu-rays for my birthday yesterday. This is the first one I had a chance to check out early this morning. It remains one of the best WWII films of the 60s. Has the ideal tough guy ensemble too. Laughably macho. Cassavetes and Savalas are amusing scene stealers (as always). Aldrich's directing is taut as all get out too. It's a great alternative to current garbage like THE EXPENDABLES and THE A-TEAM. Just sayin. If you haven't seen it yet, do it now! It's a damn classic. There are certain shots that still look dvd quality on this blu-ray, but overall I'd say it's a nice glossy HD transfer.
