209) THE HEAT
(2013 dir. Paul Feig) Date Seen: June 30 2013
Bullock & McCarthy have a really fun & goofy spark together, but the movie has tendency to waste their chemistry with some tired shtick. Considering the comedy talent involved in front of and behind the camera, there're some surprisingly laboured gags.. + this may seem like a ridiculous thing to complain about with a genre send-up like THE HEAT, but I genuinely wanted to see these two get into a more unique crime movie plot-line (Even if it was just goofing on said plot).
Also: is it just me or did 50% of this movie just feel like Paul Feig trying to reverse engineer the deconstructive parody thing Lord/Miller did so well last year with 21 JUMP STREET?
