- Filmmakers did a decent job synthesizing the look & sound of modern true-crime slop
- movie's nicely edited. (during the climax there's neat use of cross-cutting to match location footage from the modern era & the 2001 Hi8 DV)
Too much of a slow trudge through the same old found footage tropes. & Vancouver Island is full of Sasquatch. My man couldn't get a cameo?

well acted & made with slick precision. + In a narrative sense; the film very much picks up where Corin Hardy's THE HALLOW left off (Not to mention many other "Swapped with an Evil Double" thrillers). So I can't articulate why exactly so much of HOLE IN THE GROUND just rubbed me as a lesser-BABADOOK (2014).. Never mind that I've a hard time buying Maika Monroe breaking this type of bad; The jittery neo-noir vibe the film's shot in feels like somebody goofing on the late Tony Scott. It's a bit overkill for this specific story.

Happy to report that Julia continues to disturb & confound in her own unique way. Even if i did feel like this had some pacing issues.. maybe a bit of a drop-off in quality is inevitable after the masterly high of TITANE.
Ms. Farahani is still one of the greatest actresses around.
