Richard Stanley is either grifting or he actually believes in all this stuff. Which I would say is more embarrassing than endearing had it not made for such fascinating documentary material.. Sort of like Jodorowsky with his Tarot cards; I try to tell myself that sometimes people's spiritual baggage just manifests in eccentric ways. but then there's those other cases where it just seems like some dingus played D&D far too long & forgot how to switch off.
