Like some friggin' software wrote it, this one's assembled almost entirely out of spare parts from other movies. But dadgummit, Kevin James sure is a likable guy. I've personally always felt like he had the potential to be our generation's burly version of Buster Keaton --but either him or his agents just keep picking out mid-tier scripts to do. There’s always something undeniably warm & unpretentious about him as a performer. He & the supporting cast are really what saves the movie from becoming processed inspirational cheese. Henry Winkler is adorable and makes everything feel 10x more sincere just by standing there, and Bas Rutten is insane in the best possible way. Every time he shows up on camera the comedic energy got stronger.
Scrape up a budget for "Here Comes the Zoboomafoo" and will talk!
