I can personally vouch for Adam Alleca's screenplay for this. He wrote a pretty decent adaptation of King's book, but Heavens to Betsy-- then director Tod Williams came along and filmed it in a very uncinematic way (& with ever tightening re$ources).. But at least everyone involved tried their best?

It's a shame the film isn't better; the source material is like a dream gig for any horror director. I mean the plot is essentially THE SIGNAL and PONTYPOOL done on a much bigger scale.
