the gory parts were a pure sugar rush for my inner blood spatter junkie. I'd say it probably held the title for Best Vampire Anime of the 2000s until VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST came along and knocked it off its perch.. I didn't love the washed out color palette but at least it wasn't nauseating like the piss-soaked sepia of the 2008 revamp of GHOST IN THE SHELL.
