Finally got to see this & now I'm even sadder we lost writer/director Cristian Nemescu. He was a true independent with a distinctive cinematic voice. Will light a candle for him tonight.

a troubling (and at times hypnotic) descent into madness.. I frequently have a hard time putting my thoughts about movies into text - especially when the movie in question is meticulously paced & thematically deep like this; So idk if I just started this journal to merely log things I've been watching with zero personal insight. but now I fear that's what it might become.. Suppose Bret Easton Ellis wrote Chilean Psycho instead of American Psycho and then a filmmaker similar to Andrea Arnold made a kitchen sink realist film out of it. Even that description still doesn't quite begin to sum up what makes TONY MANERO uniquely transfixing or depressing.
