VOYAGE OF THE ROCK ALIENS

This began really strong with Rhema aboard their guitar-shaped spaceship performing a musical number that felt like Devo goofing on Kilroy-era Styx. But soon all these weird & stylistically out of place Pia Zadora music videos start popping up throughout the movie that really kill the momentum. For what it's worth, a lot of the physical comedy bits work and it'd make good companion viewing with other rock oddities like KIϟϟ MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK (1978).

60) GREASE 2
(1982 dir. Patricia Birch) Date Seen: February 5 2022
I'd always heard that this was supposed to be some type of unmitigated disaster of a sequel but I didn't find it that way at all. It actually kind of reminded me of SHOCK TREATMENT (1981) in how it's better directed & more polished than its original but also in how most of its songs and cast just weren't quite as up to snuff as the first go around.
