my personal favorite moments from films to receive a 1985 U.S. release. Not all of which made my actual “Best Films of 1985” list, but at least had incredible segments that stayed with me since first viewing. Scenes that I’m sure I’ll want to re-visit again and again.
- PHENOMENA (Argento)

- RETURN TO OZ (Murch)

Zombies begin to awake all over after Pvt. Salazar calls out for survivors on bullhorn.. Ruins of a coastal city begin to collectively moan.. That sound will forever send shivers down my spine

The whole movie within a movie ending sequence at the drive-in.. Pee-Wee watching his Hollywood story while delivering snacks to the whole ensemble, etc. One of the sugary sweetest meta-moments ever

Dorothy sneaking past Mombi's hall of severed heads to retrieve the “Powder of Life.” All while Mombi’s decapitated body slumbers nearby. A sequence worthy of Hitchcock in it’s construction
