my personal favorite moments from films to receive a 2016 U.S. release. Not all of which made my actual “Best Films of 2016” list, but at least had incredible segments that stayed with me since first viewing. Scenes that I’m sure I’ll want to re-visit again and again.

A german bomber gets shot down & starts falling towards the house. Yet another memorable plane crash courtesy of Zemeckis - ALLIED (Zemeckis)
the stroboscopic "Demon Dance" at nightclub. Though I wasn’t enamored with the film as a whole, this bit's one of the more hypnotizing things NWR has conceived. Should be prefaced w/an epilepsy warning - THE NEON DEMON

Valak Painting comes to life & attacks Lorraine. The silhouette moving across the room into the frame may be the creepiest moment James Wan has ever devised. I wish the rest of the film had that same scary level of ambiance - THE CONJURING 2 (Wan)
"The High Priestess" chapter; Teresa Palmer sequence in Las Vegas. Christian Bale’s frozen moment in the middle of the club is one of the bleakest moments I’ve ever seen in a Malick film - KNIGHT OF CUPS (Malick)

entering "the Shell" sequence. **Dr. Banks first meets the aliens** - I don’t think the audience I saw this with felt like they could breathe until the characters finally exited the craft. There was a collective gasp for air when it cut to them in the airlock again - ARRIVAL (Villeneuve)

Black Panther & Cap chase Bucky through Bucharest. **I'm sure the VFX team & A.D.s helped a good deal, but it's still impressive to me how well these two T.V. sitcom guys direct action** - CAPTAIN AMERICA:
