Viewing Journal: 12/3/2021

658) FLEE [FLUGT]
(2021 dir. Jonas Poher Rasmussen) Date Seen: December 3 2021
Not since Keith Maitland's TOWER (2016) has an animated doc got my feelings this twisted up inside. You'd think the colorful & clean animation style of a project like this would help cushion the emotional blows, but nope.. In fact, sometimes it feels like it may have the exact opposite effect. Amplifying the heaviness.

657) THE OGRE
(1989 dir. Lamberto Bava) Date Seen: December 3 2021
Not sure why my copy of this has it billed as "DEMONS III", seeing how, besides the director being the same, it has nothing to do with that series.. Also I wonder if more Italian made-for-TV movies are this good. If so, their shit makes ours look crumby. This felt like Lamberto's own personal spin on a Lucio Fulci movie like HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY.

656) CEMETERY OF TERROR
(1985 dir. Rubén Galindo Jr.) Date Seen: December 3 2021
Structurally this was almost like an omnibus movie split in 2 separate parts. It isn't officially, but there's a point midway thru where it really feels like a totally different movie from how it began. (P.S. The latter half set in the cemetery especially kicks ass)
