Oddly enough it was the unexpectedly sincere & tender moments in this that made me warm to it. I just kinda wish it was funnier & sharper as satire overall.. For a sketch comedy writer & actor, Early shows surprisingly beefy formalist rigor behind the cam. This accurately captures the vibe of those vintage made-for-TV specials to a T.
